Prologue

The above image is, more or less, the first page of the prologue. "There was a time when dragons walked with men..." was the first thing that I ever came up with for MYTH. At the time I had absolutely NO idea what the story would be about.

On a completely whimsical, non-serious note, it'd be fun to someday see this as a movie poster or "collected series" book cover, wouldn't it? Hey come on! Let a guy dream, will ya?!

So I finally decided that, rather than illustrating the ENTIRE first act for this story proposal/submission, I'd instead illustrate the prologue and an action scene. The prologue sets things up, shows the main characters, and establishes the emotional core of the story. The action scene, which occurs late in the first act, is the moment when things really start to get scary and exciting! I figure these two scenes will be enough for a potential publisher to get a feel for what kind of book this will be.

Good on you for defining your delivery. Make sure to target agents that have interest in graphic novels. Thier appears to be a growing interest in that format. I believe there may be some publishers you can contact directly. One I came across in Canada has no interest in fantastical - fantasy type material. They published "Skim" which is up for an Eisner. My book sits on the border with connections to literary content ... so I'm not sure where it resides.

That's a good idea. I think the prologue would be a good way to introduce your story to publishers and give them a feel for the whole story. And yes, do a nice action scene, you're really good at those! I can't wait to see more!
